Tradition and Innovation

The name BONSAE is derived from the traditional Japanese art of bonsai. To me, it also reflects the evolution of Jiu-Jitsu from its Japanese roots into the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu we know today. It represents the idea that tradition and innovation don't have to contradict each other. We can appreciate where something comes from without being afraid to make it our own.

In practical terms, BONSAE documents the people and culture of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and brings people together around a shared passion. The idea is to create a community, organize events and make things that last, both in and beyond the world of Jiu-Jitsu.
